"It has long been my dream for Music Box Designs to be more than a vinyl storage company. For the past 2 years we have been working with electronics mastermind, Leon Riches, of Studio4 Holland to create our own set of Full Range Loudspeakers. His 40 years of speaker building experience guided us through the process and it has been an incredible experience getting to hang out, create, and learn from Mr. Riches and tap into his deep well of technical 'know how' and deep love of music and sound.
The plan was to provide an incredible sounding Music Box Speaker that would integrate seamlessly into our line of Music Box Vinyl Storage Products, but also function as a stand alone piece of audio equipment for those who just want to have a great set of speakers to compliment their listening room. A 2-way system with Passive Crossover in a folded compression ported chamber. It is essentially a Music Box in a box, with Studio 4 Holland's proprietary interior design specifications.
On the outside you have our classic kiln dried edge glued oak panels which are the exact dimensions of our standard 12 Inch Music Boxes, so you can stack these speakers onto your existing Music Boxes. Or if you have many Music Boxes you could place them in a wall of Music Boxes to achieve even better stereo imaging and a more lifelike soundstage, akin to in-wall mounted speakers. Or if you are just looking for a great pair of hand crafted incredible sounding loud speakers then look no further.
What we have are super clear details, full bodied punch, wide detailed (but not clinical) soundstage and deliciously rich punchy bass that may surprise you with its power.
We have tested these speakers with nearly every genre we could think of, and we have not been disappointed. The tight response makes; Jazz, Blues, and Vocalists sparkle with detail and warmth, and the wide soundstage allow Rock, Funk, Reggae, and Soul to pop out with a glorious invitation to lose yourself in the analog void. The groove is indeed deep and wide.
Of course the sound signature of all equipment in the audio chain varies and is therefore subjective to the listener. Even the dimensions and objects in your listening room will affect the sound you hear. We have demo'd these speakers on 6 totally different systems in 5 completely different listening environments and in each scenario I (and all others that were present) have been overwhelmingly pleased by the sound. The final prototypes seen in the accompanying photos, have replaced the speakers that were in my downstairs listening room.
**Unlike other mass marketed speakers, our speakers have been crafted out the same kiln dried 'A' quality Oak as our other Music Box Products, as such we have addressed contraction and expansion as much as possible. We therefore do not recommend placing these speakers in a humid environment. And in order to protect them we are not selling the speakers in an untreated or 'Natural' version. There will be our standard Oiled Oak color and a slightly lighter color, protected with Osmo Wood Protection, which is a bit darker than our natural products, but not as dark as our Oiled Oak. Periodic cleaning and care of your 'Moving in Stereo' speakers will ensure years and years of listening pleasure.
